Tesla’s big Robotaxi reveal delayed to October
Autumn will be an important milestone for Tesla. Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, pushed back the date of Robotaxi’s big reveal to October 10, during an earnings conference held last Tuesday. This date, originally set for August 8, has been pushed back to allow the team to refine the Robotaxi and add a few more elements before its launch.
Significant improvements planned
According to a recent report by Bloomberg, it seems that the postponement of this event to October was decided to give more time to the teams working on the Robotaxis to design further prototypes. “The idea is to build a fleet of fully autonomous cars that will transport passengers without the intervention of a driver,” Musk said.
Autonomous driving, the future of Tesla according to Musk
Elon Musk sees Robotaxis as an extremely important milestone for Tesla. During the earnings conference, he once again reiterated his belief that autonomous driving is fundamental to Tesla’s future. “Tesla’s value is mainly based on range. The other aspects are negligible in comparison,” he said.
Autonomous driving is in fact a key technology for the future of the automotive sector. The delay may therefore seem disappointing to some, but it gives Tesla an additional opportunity to polish its Robotaxi before unveiling it to the general public.
It’s worth noting that Tesla’s financial results for the second quarter of 2024 were mixed, with the company beating revenue estimates but failing to meet Wall Street analysts’ earnings expectations. However, with the imminent launch of the Robotaxi, the future looks bright for Tesla.
