Everything we know so far about M4 MacBooks

Apple is gearing up to introduce the entire world with a new sequence of M4 Macs. New MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, and Mac Mini are supposed to show up in the second half of 2024.

Besides, new M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pro mass production reports appear to confirm the announcements of the new products. The most convincing signal of the fact is that the range of new laptops with the Apple M4 processor is on its way.

According to Bloomberg blogger and Apple fan Mark Gurman, AI, will be the prime selling point for these processors. As the absolute popularity of “AI laptop”-market among Intel Meteor Lake processor NPUs buyers had emerged, this is the most likely scenario. Probably, Apple wants to remind us that MacBooks have been fitted with AI-specialized Neural Engine chips since the 2020 M1 MacBook Air.

A very successful M3 processor replacement probably will define the new era for the MacBooks by Apple. So we can expect the new M4. The M4 iPad Pro proved that lots of substantial improvements such as CPU speed, GPU performance and AI gains through the Neural Engine have been made.

The upgraded M4 MacBooks could have not only the relatively small improvement in the core but the intention of Apple to add even more significant spec upgrades. In case the performance of the new M4 models is better, they are likely to come with an increase in price compared to the current models. It does not seem that Apple will attach a cost increment to the M4 MacBooks unless they provide the machine with a substantial breakthrough.

In summary, the next M4 MacBook lineup will likely be performance-driven, offering a first look at how Apple plans to promote AI on its laptops. This is potentially exciting, as most of the tricks used to promote AI-optimized laptops today are straight out of Apple’s strategy
